That’s what I used to think to myself every time I drove on Kellogg during rush hour. Kellogg is a six-lane highway that runs through the heart of Wichita. It’s the main artery for commuters, so it’s always packed. But during rush hour, it’s a complete nightmare.
The “Kellogg Crawl” is a rite of passage for any Wichitan. It’s a test of patience, endurance, and road rage! You’ll see it all on the Kellogg Crawl: people cutting each other off, flipping each other off, people driving on the shoulder, people reading the newspaper while they’re driving, or the crazy drivers who are either texting, eating, or applying makeup while they’re behind the wheel. There is even a dedicated Wichita Bad Drivers Facebook page!
And then there’s the construction. Oh, the construction.
One time, I saw a guy driving a DeLorean. I’m not sure if he was trying to go back to the future, but he was definitely going nowhere fast.
I’m so thankful that I’m a voice actor now, so I don’t have to deal with the Kellogg commute anymore. I can just sit in my custom-built home studio in the basement and record my new commercial demo, safe from the madness. It occurs to me that laying down a badass vocal track for a corporate narration client, then walking up the stairs to go eat dinner is a MUCH better commute!
So if you regularly get stuck on Kellogg during rush hour after work… well it sucks to be you. I feel for you but I gotta say… I’m glad it’s not me every day anymore! 🤷
But cheer up, maybe you’ll see a DeLorean while you’re crawling at 15 MPH between Seneca and I235… contemplating a new career.
